When the Eco-Crisis struck many nation's governments collapsed, along with their economies.

Russia was one of the first to experience this but the Russian people, long suffering under corrupt regimes had already shifted focus to community based support systems.

The dynamic of the nation spread, Tepu Ivanovic Tereshkova, negotiated a collective of such communities which eventaully spread to encompase the Russia Federation.

Founded on the principles of communal support this modified Communism eventually took hold and the New Soviet was born.

As the Eco-Crisis continued the nearby independent states of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistand, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Takhistan, and Kyrgyzstan petitioned to learn from this system, eventually becoming part of the new Union.

The flag of the New Soviet reflect these new core ideals.   The BLUE STAR represents the Freedoms of the Entrepeneur to generate wealth; the WHITE BORDER surrounding it represents the Equality of all citizens to seek that wealth; and the RED FIELD represents the community.

This system worked so well that the New Soviet was the fastest in the region to recover.  The union remained as the nation, realizing past mistakes involved world domination, threw its attention outward, to the site of past glories, space exploration.

The New Soviet was the first to establish permanant bases on Luna and Mars, and the first to establish permananet mining concerns in the Asteroid Belt.   As with before this expansion led to the creation of the western controlled United Network Command Authority.

Animosity between the two groups has existed sproadically, peaking with the "HOT WAR" actions of the SHORT-BOW CONFLICT and nearly again with the "FARSIDE INCIDENT".
