Originally the People's Republic of China and Hong Kong-SAR (later Hangseng SAR) the region crawled through the Eco-Crisis suffering the second greatest loss of life of any nation/region on the planet. &nsbp; Long term famines led to fruitless military incursions in neighbouring regions as the food belt shifted north and all populations suffered.

The Chinese situation was made worse by a series of infections in the delicate alternative food chain that so much of the culture relied on.   This coupled with the nuclear fall-out from a series of Nuclear reactor failures in India which swept eastward irradiating much of the countryside and the two military campaigns that followed did nothing to stem the loss of life.

Rapidly rising coastal waters took tens of millions in only a few short years with the population demoralized to a point of systemic shock that threatened to topple the entire culture into a quamire of civil wars.

It was during this time that the Active Revolution occurred driving remains of the Communist Regime inland to what is now West China and setting up the new Republic.

Since rejoining with Taiwan the new Republic of China has prospered in technology trade with neighbouring India that has allowed re-habilitation of most of the irradiated areas and increased trade with others throughout the Network.

China shares responsibility for the rehabilitation of the Korean Protectorate with mutual ally Japan but continues to face threatening incursion from the population weak yet dangerously desperate (and still Communist) West Chinese.
