Confederation with Parliamentary Democracy comprised of five Provinces:   Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.

Officially created on July 1, 1867 in an act of the British Parliament following months of negotiations Canada once stretched across the top half of North America from Ocean to Ocean to Ocean.

For the first one hundred and fifty years Canada's internal struggle as a nation most often fell on the long standing issue of English vs. French rights as particularly exemplefied by the Sovereignty struggle of Quebec pseudo-nationalist.   However it was a successful immigration policy that eventually drowned out the francophone cause in Canada by reducing the separtist to a frail voice within Confederation.

This was only proper as the entire Canadian consciousness was based on the francophone foundation anyway so such squabbles were really nothing more than a small vocal minority attempting to negotiate unfairly with the whole.

The true challenges to Canada's strength came as with most nations, during the Eco-Crisis.   This global calamity put such severe strains on the Federal system that it was unable to react to an invasion by renegade Heartland States of the Western Provinces leaving them to fend for themselves against this powerful aggressor.

The west's departure from Confederation actually worked to the advantage of both leaving the Federal Government to concentrate on the Atlantic provinces and finally bring up to their full potential.   This was not fast enough for some however as both Nunavuut and the province of Newfoundland and Labrador found economic and then territorial union with other Nation states.

Canada now exists as the second smallest of Nations occupying space in North America but with this more limited infra-structure has come tremendous economic growth and the nation remains an economic powerhouse on the world stage and a fully participating member of the United Network Command Authority.

HIGHEST POPULATION BEFORE ECO-CRISIS:   45,678,129 (of current landmass = 31,927,656)

LOWEST POPULATION DURING ECO-CRISIS:   27,261,356

POPULATION (AS AT LATEST CENSUS):   33,487,221
