Magellan was presumed dead until his recovery along with the KLANGORF Project material from a prison on the surface of former Article 6 world KLEINDUER in New CALGARY by Robert MacMANUS. MAGELLAN earned a STAR COMMAND commission thanks to the sponsorship of Robert MacMANUS and came on board the TEAM E of UAC STARBENDER and the RIJL FOUR Light Cruiser as Pilot. Magellan assumed temporary Vessel Command of RIJL FOUR during parts of 2256 while beginning and doing quite well at his quest to pass the COMMAND EXAM. Commander of Scout craft TRIXIE, (Ladis Four A prototype) On assignment to the INDEPENDENCE Battle Group Bill MAGELLAN (Commander) found himself in command of the A/16 Squadron of LADIS FOUR-A / Model 16 Fighter Group. External Operations Commander UAC EXPLORER during Shadow Fleet Crisis. ADDITIONAL: On Tzu Brandon's assignment to the RIJL FOUR team as MEDICO a relationship began to develop with her and Magellan. Circumstance resulted in his temporary leadership of a group of Marauder's during the VIRCON War. His recovery from this also at the hands of MacMANUS and Mel Girney. Magellan received the prototype Model FOUR-A as a present from Robert MacMANUS on his birthday in 2255. Magellan inadvertently developed the Guided Tessla Weapon while at the Tactical Multi-CONN on the RIJL FOUR. PSYCHOLOGICAL BACKGROUND / HISTROICAL: Bill Magellan grew up nearly in the shadow of Robert MacMANUS and has been quite comfortable there. A task oriented dependable side-kick type Magellan is usually not one for digging deeply into the motives of those around him preferring to take people as they are. This often leads to him being surprised by other people's behavior even of those he's close to. An exception seems to be in dealing with long time pal, Robert MacMANUS, for whom Magellan has an inordinately strong loyalty to and familiarity with. MacMANUS himself has voiced that Magellan provides a "moral keel" to his own thinking. Historically the two work very well together with MacMANUS developing theory and Magellan finding the practical application of such theory. Coupled with teammate Melbourne Girney results in the creation of mechanisms for the application and the trio has proven extremely adept at logical problem solving and crisis management. Bill Magellan is a practicing Evangelical Christian who's beliefs sometimes put him at odds with those of his teammates and other although a workable system of non-judgement or "belief challenging" has been achieved which remains defacto most of the time. Magellan's religious background along with his heritage as a multi-generational American citizen result in him being overly defensive relating to his countries' history specifically in relation to the GREAT HOLY WAR and the actions of former President HALLEY. Like all American's he seeks a period where the once great nation can again regain its position of honour among the nations of the world. Magellan's family history traces back to Timothy Ryan O'NEILL, a workmate of MacMANUS ancestor Jonathan Adam MacMANUS during their years at MAGELLAN Shipyards. Timothy changed his surname to MAGELLAN under the belief that a person named "MAGELLAN" would receive preferential treatment in promotions and the action did result in Timothy being assigned a Project Management position on three production lines. Timothy's 2nd oldest daughter Miranda Stewart married MAGELLAN Shipyards Junior Vice President of Aerospace Talwyn Waksel who did hold shares in the company but that is the closest financial tie the "MAGELLANs" had to MAGELLAN Shipyards. Bill's parents ended up in the Aerospace Industry none the less with Isaac Leonard being assigned to STATION ONE as STATION ADMINISTRATOR while his mother Samantha Heather Rogers went there as an ELECTRICAL ENGINEER working on both STATION ONE and later STATION THREE.
