Z

In the ANGLISH alphabet (ALFABET) the letter "Z" is officially pronounced "ZUH" in keeping with the ANGLISH rule of pronouciation. Most letters in the ANGLISH alphabet carry the sound they make as their name rather than the old Earth archaic name. This has helped to make ANGLISH more easily taught to new species and helps to seperate the vowels of Anglish which make different sounds depending on their case. IE: the letter "A" from the letter "a" (Ay from ah). This does not mean that there are not holdbacks among Terrans who continue to use the American "ZEE" or British "ZED" pronounciations for this letter.

Z = GINSANG "Z" RATED ENVIRONMENT
Following the original English Alphabet "Z" is the last letter and therefore by the Ginsang Table the most extreme environment there can be. A "Z" Environment is absolutely inhospitable with study impossible from any reasonable range. Dr GINSANG likened the "Z" Environment to a BLACK HOLE.

ZERO SECOND
The anchor in the Metric Time system as developed by the CFTS. Article 5 of the UA Charter sets ZERO SECOND as the moment the Mussani Federation homeworld was destroyed by MEGANITE Forces in the ARROWHEAD MANEUVER. By the old Earth Standard Universal Time ZERO SECOND was April 9, 1964 12:15pm UTC (Greenwich Mean Time)

ZI URSAE MAJORIS
Archaic name for the neutral system 972 New CHICAGO, home of the WASUNGYO.

ZOUNDS
Colloquialism of early 23rd Century Pilots on hearing news which sounds very bad. The phrase may possibly be older than this but who really cares!
