Q = GINSANG "Q" RATED ENVIRONMENT

The Ginsang scale uses the old Terran language ENGLISH and rates environments from A to Z. The "Q" Environment is considered a very hostile environment even to level five space suited individuals due to the Light Corrosive or Pressure extremes of the environment.

QUAD
Short form reference. 1 QUAD equals four times the speed of light, 2 equal 8 and so on. Any QUAD speed number times four equals the speed of light. When PULSE TACH Drive pushed maximum speeds into the hundreds on Pursuit Craft QUADs came into play as readily communicable references with much smaller numbers. Now that PRO-TACH has driven the QUADs into the thousand there is question whether another reference might be required.

QUARANTINE
In the Meganite definition a Quarrantined world is one where the inhabitants are restricted from leaving their surface to ensure they do not contaminate outside cultures. In the United Alliance definition a Quarrantined world is one where non-inhabitants are restricted from visiting the surface to ensure they do not contaminate the indigenous cultures.

QUEEN ALICE's STAR
Archaic name for system 994 New BALTIMORE, location of the New BALTIMORE Colony (population 3 million).

QUIN Conflict (2250-2253)
The QUIN CONFLICT occured when an Alliance sanctioned colony began operation on a world the QUIN had been mining and claimed. Between 2250 and 2253 (Earth Standard Calendar) the QUIN CONFLICT had both UA and QUIN in a series of heated battles. Work by various Diplomatic, Border Patrol and Star Command representatives most notably then Captain Henry JAMES resulted in a recognized border, the cessation of hostilities and increasingly the promise of trade.

QUIN'DAX ALLIANCE
The small but well organized and warlike race that occupies space near the First Circle of the United Alliance including the region of the First Circle known as the New CARRIBEAN. The QUIN were unknown to the Alliance until both sides ended up in a brief but bloody territorial dispute following the Alliance establishing a colony on a world the QUIN had been mining and claimed (SEE QUIN CONFLICT)
