FLUX DEITY
" THE BOOK OF LEWIS, 5
"
Lewis was no stranger to mid-day naps. In fact he was quite fond of them. Many came following intense writing sessions after brilliant ideas and constructs had made their way into his system. Others had come following energetic sexual liaisons, not the ones he used to clear his head but the hour long, full body, full contact sports marathons. Some occurred when he couldn't think of anything, one in particular followed the slow-moving time-consuming act of listing all the various types of naps on a spreadsheet during a very long stretch of writer's block.
Seldom had he needed one because of an intellectual pursuit and never because of a revelation, until today. Lewis entered his office, glad for a change to see that Trillium wasn't there and made his way to the closet for a blanket and then to the large border sofa for a lay down.
So direct was the motion that he even forgot to sign the computer off or lock the door. In minutes the long day that had threatened to lack progress like all the others had drained him and was now fading away as he began to dream about butterflies of all things.
