17) Sequel

It was all just a dream.
I was cloned at thirteen.
I jumped at the last minute.
A rescue pod had me in it.
It was only my double.
I was under the rubble,
waiting, just to come home at
this particular moment.
(chorus)
Yes, it looked like the end,
but there was unequalled public demand,
and the rumours leaked, ‘till
someone wrote a script
and signed up all the people
and here I am, back for the sequel.

Yes, there was that explosion,
but consider the notion
of an alternate ending
that is just a beginning.
I ensured my survival
hidden inside my arch rival,
seemed to fall, lost my vitals,
credits rolled, but now they’re titles.

(chorus)
There I stood, alone, seemingly forsaken,
leaving all of faith both stirred, and badly shaken,
drifting from the rows,
some feeling they’d been taken.
Looks just like an end,
but then we all awaken-

-Here, a little older,
but we’ve got it all down colder.
Some have gone, but enough are present.
We know what works,
and what doesn’t.
So suspend disbelieving
and just enjoy the evening.
At the sound of the theme,
it was all just a dream.

(chorus)
