PIC DESCRIPTS: TOP ROW: 1-Webcam broadcasting the Duke Statue on the net 27/7; 2-Gary & Trudie in front of the Duke Statue; 3-The view from Trudie's fav spot on the beach; 4-Mere steps from an ABC Store!; 5-And feet from a Police station; 6-Crazy brick-a-brak sidewalks you'd never find in Canada because of the Freeze/Thaw cycle; 7-Later walk-about takes me past a Dollar Thrifty location! SECOND ROW: 1-2 This one has a Dollar Shuttle; 3-More murals on the sides of towers; 4-Getting thirsty? Good thing there's an ABC!; 5-Just about the only indication that Hawaii is even aware they're turning 50 this week; 7-Waikiki 7-Eleven (signage is really small - whats up wit dat?) THIRD ROW: 1-Even in the window you can see the bags they sell (yes, even Convenience stores in Waikiki have gift shops!); 2-As I head toward the beach with my Slurpee I'm comforted by another ABC store; 3-Extravagant model in front of Chinese Restaurant; 4- Crazy trees in the park, like something from the Wizard of Oz!; 5-Wide beach near the Hilton (and woman who may be topless!); 6-The view of Diamond Head from the far west beach; 7-Working dog relaxing by his owner's stall FOURTH ROW: 1-Some of the beach front shops at the base of the Outrigger Beachwalk; 2-3 Walking along the beach by these hotels; 4-The place we first looked at for dinner that night (had to cook your own food, huh?); 5-Beach walk (access from road to water); 6-New $800 Million beachwalk development that resulted in hundreds of Time Share salesmen outnumbering tourists 3 to 1; 7-Complete with its own ABC! FIFTH ROW: 1-5 The shops of BeachWalk; 6- The timeshare they're pushing so hard; 7-The wooden Harley replica in the window of the HD store at Royal Hawaiian Centre mall SIXTH ROW: 1-Sunset from our suite; 2-Hotel poolside at sunset; 3-Back alley billboards showing some of the classic films shot in Hawaii; 4-The floor of Jimmy Buffet's Restaurant; 5-Polynesian Town at Jimmy Buffet's; 6-The video wall; 7-Shark coming out of the wall above the bar SEVENTH ROW: 1-The wave wall booths; 2-A poster in the men's room; 3-The main entrance to Jimmy Buffet's which we didn't see on the way in haha. |
