If Destroyers are the backbone of the Fleet then from even the earliest days of their operation TRANSPORTS or as they are affectionately known ROVERS are the workhorses.
During the MEG WAR these craft, small, quick and maneuverable were charged with the responsibility of getting both replacement crews, equipment, supplies and extra fighters to their much needed BASE Ships.
More often then not the ROVERS arrived in mid-battle and with their BATTLE GRID weapons and Short Range Combat Fighters they tipped the battle in favor of the Alliance.
These flexible craft have proven to be quite durable as well, although 47 were destroyed during the MEG WAR and 7 were decommissioned during the QUIN'Dax CONFLICT a full 191 remain space worthy and in service to one organization or another.
Even the private enterprise STAR FERRY Corp, under special dispensation by the UNITED ALLIANCE Vessel Registry department, has been able to acquire 19 Rovers and following a luxury refit rivaling the finest HOTELS have their fleet traveling to some of most beautiful spots in the UNITED ALLIANCE FIRST CIRCLE.
