FINN Captain MITCH "FINN" FINNEGAN

A 30 - 35 year old, Boston, Massachusetts native of Irish descent born Mitchell Finnegan, but better known as FINN.   Finn was the second born child in a dominant branch of a very wealthy and powerful New England family.

These connections led to his acceptance in the Annapolis Space Flight Academy but it was his inherent skill that resulted in him graduating in the top three percentile of his class.   He earned an outer system first tour with the ALGONQUIN Combat Wing.

Finn advanced to Wing Leader before being invited to join the competition to create the first Advanced Tactical Wing later known as the 655 Squadron.   Participants were evaluated before assignment in order to best determine their place in the Squad.   Although one of the junior members in the program Finn was in top consideration for Squadron Command and barely lost out to RIGEL Aerospace heir Robert MacManus when Command decided to go with the stronger strategist rather than the superior tactician.

For the next three years Finn and the 655 participated in a wide variety of exercises for everything from strike force operations to experimental test flights.   That was until the group violated orders and began their own investigation of New Soviet operations on the far side of Luna (Earth's Moon) an act that nearly started a war.

During the mission debrief Finn was the only member of the team who refused to be baited by investigators keen on affixing blame.

With disaster averted, Command decided to split up the 655, spreading each member throughout the Fleet.   Finn opted for a lateral move to Ground Forces so he could remain near Earth, for reasons he would not reveal, rather than the outer system assignments everyone else took.

This effectively put a lid on his career stunting his advancement at the rank of Lieutenant Senior Grade until actions taken by him during Peacekeeping duties in Buffalo Commons brought him promotion to Captain and the attention of various competing factions within the United Network.

Finn has what he feels is a very clear personal understanding of what is right or wrong that is more predicated on job results than any firmly held belief.   Finn's family puts tremendous emphasis on individual achievement, because of this and the set-backs Finn feels he has much to prove.   This has created an individual more inclined to suffer alone than seek help.
