03) Stray

I'm lost in the mall,
but I think it's my calling to stay that way.
Set up a hammock in housewares
and swing like a castaway.
Tracking the herds of kids and their moms,
down to the food court to pick up the crumbs.
Anyone asks, have you heard what I'm up to
these fine days,
tell 'em I've gone stray.

A travelling salesman of napkins and packets
and office supplies,
patiently waiting to see if you're really
done with those fries.
Then, down to the fountain to drink from that well,
and maybe catch me a tasty gazelle.
Anyone asks, have you heard what I'm up to
these fine days,
tell 'em I've gone stray.

Now, I can act civilized like the rest of the guys,
but you know it's just a veneer,
and pretend as we will that we live someplace else,
we keep ending up here...

and it's a jungle indeed
and survival's the feed that you pay-to-view.
Ads are all you can see on the big screen TV
flinging crap at you.
So, why not pick it up and toss it right back?
The dog ate the dog, so I'm backing the cat.
Anyone asks, have you heard what I'm up to
these fine days,
tell 'em I've gone stray.
