11) ...but they will

Once, on a Saturday
she thought ‘I cannot take any more.’
but the sun shuffled out that day,
‘cross the faded linoleum floor,
and I can’t explain where the change was made,
but that light made away with the chill,
and I know you don’t think things will get better,
but they will.

One of those kind of days
when there’s too much piled up on your plate,
where your best is just not enough,
too little, too long or too late,
but I can’t explain where the change is made
while your eye’s only on what’s been spilled,
‘cause I know you don’t think things will get better,
but they will.

Sometimes it’s hard not to just burn your bridges
and island yourself in the night.
Living’s so hard for the pay that you get,
and it will take the rest of your life.
Well, I offer no cheap panacea,
no get-out-of-jail-free card,
but I will ask,
why cling to your darkness so hard?

Many times I knew it all had finally come to an end,
but I survived my surety
to come back and sing here again,
and I can’t explain, but the change was made,
and I’m no longer living there still,
and I know you don’t think things will get better,
but they will… yes they will,
I know you don’t think that things will get better,
but they will.
