754) The Day That Would Not End

Once upon a time
there was a day that would not end
a bar that wouldn't open
and a break that wouldn't mend
If i tell you how the story goes
it only starts again,
so, once upon a time
there was a day that would not end


Long ago and fat away
the ending did seem near
but we never got to lunch hour
by the middle of next year
the laws of time and physics
clearly don't apply 'round here,\
though, long ago and far away

There seems to be a month or two
between each tick and tock
as if it's steeper than Mount Everest
each turn around the clock
I stopped counting the church bell chimes
around the hundredth ring
there's nothing left to do but feel
the amber hardening


but suddenly one day
there was a dawn that finally broke
and the hands resumed their motion
and freed me from the yoke
that trapped me in the moment
where you and I just spoke
yes, suddenly one day
there was a dawn that finally broke.
